J-rock

Japanese rock, or J-Rock, is a group of distinct styles that draw mainly from rock, and are native to Japan. There are many groups within this broad genre. A few styles include, but are definitely not limited to: heavy metal, indie (not to be confused with Indies, an English term usually meaning independent Visual-Kei or Angura-Kei artists) and punk. It's ok to tag a genre to the region/country it's coming from, since, most of the time they've a different sound to it, that clearly distinguish them from other bands right within the same genre. Unless you are an un-organized f#g who like to throw stuff in a nutshell, to only achieve later a messed library. Ex: Finnish rock bands to American rock bands, etc. Same for Japan rock bands to the rest.

Who cares about stupid tag anyway, I have seen a lot of people tagging their music as "seen live" and "awesome" and stuff like that and a lot of people don't mind. Now since when was "seen live"a music genre I ask. People are tagging what they think about certain band but not about music genre. And if it is wrong to say J-rock, why aren't you guys trolling on K-pop tag....

I'm not even that big of a DEG fan. I think they were much better in the late 90's/early 00's. Saying that a lot of (I never said all) modern J-rock bands sound like DEG (modern DEG, which I don't even like that much) doesn't make you a DEG fanboy, it makes you objective because anyone who's objective is gonna say that a lot of songs from bands like Sadie, Screw, 12012, etc... sound like DEG songs. But of course a fanboy is never gonna say one of his favorite bands sometimes sound almost exactly like another band.

@TheOnlyMAD: Saying that everyone sounds like DEG doesn't make you more of a fanboy than me then? That exactly makes you look like a douche - bye bye blind DEG stan (have fun with your fucked up standards)

Oh hi fanboy. It's not my fault you're too much of a blind fanboy to admit to yourself that a lot of modern J-rock bands are (for the most part) Dir en grey wannabes. Being objective doesn't make me a douche. @ SilentJay: There's a difference between sounding somewhat similar and sounding almost the same. Visual Kei ≠ sounding like Dir en grey.

    What a douche.

Well those bands you listed are bound to sound somewhat similar. They're all the same genre! (the genre being Visual Kei)

No need for profound explanations/statements, just make a compilation mixing Dir en grey songs with songs from bands like Sadie, Screw, 12012, etc... and listen to it. Even the vocals sound almost the same. Are you partially deaf or just a fanboy?
