1) Heavy / Proto-doom metal band formed 2008 in Sweden. Ghost is the name of a devil worshipping ministry that - in order to spread their unholy gospels and, furthermore, trick mankind into believing that the end is ultimately a good thing - have decided to use the ever so popular rock music medium as a way to achieve their ends.

Standing motionless and anonymous beneath the painted faces, hoods and robes which their sect demand, the six nameless ghouls of Ghost deliver litanies of sexually pulsating heavy rock music and romantic lyrics, that glorify and glamorise the disgusting and sacrilegious, with the simple intention to communicate a message of pure evil via the most effective device they can find - entertainment.

This band is so original. I've never seen anything like it. Except Kiss of course, and Lordi, Gwar, Alice Cooper and thousands of other bands with elaborate costumes. Anyway, hail Satan!

the more i listen to the new one, the more i find myself liking it. even the mastering doesn't bother me much at this point. still not as good as opus but still, this one's proving to be a grower.

An unusual combination of music and image , but I really love it. And the music as good, as the look of Papa Emeritus II. "I've never understood why people come on last.fm just to bitch about music they don't like...IF you don't like it don't listen no one is forcing you." [2]

I only heard of this band when it was announced they were coming to Brazil for Rock in Rio. Out of a sudden, they started being covered by every music vehicle. So I got a little sick about the visual - nothing that others hadn't done before - and how unmetal the music is (wait). Then a reliable friend showed me Year Zero and, luckly, I maneged to listen to it with open ears and mind, avoiding to expect heavy shit as I had before. So I downloaded it, and it's quite fascinating how it gets in your head so you have to listen to the album more than once per day . I still don't know if it's a metal project created to make money by cool mainstream producers, but damn, it's easily the best album of this year already.

@4UFH0CK3R Say that again when you don't have some of the most generic metalcore bands in your top 30.

Fan fucking tastic show in DC last night. These guys are going places. That monstrance clock encore was the cherry on top. Also the live version of Satan Prayer with some added instrumentals in the middle was great. Wow, didn't know that devil-worship could be that boring. I'd rather listen to the worst Mercyful Fate album over and over again... oh wait, there is nothing like a bad Mercyful Fate album, only Ghost.
