It is the band’s third album, and the final under their contract with Sub Pop. The album was recorded in James Mercer’s basement studio, Phil Ek’s home in Seattle, and in Oregon City with veteran producer Joe Chiccarelli (Beck, U2).     It lacks the consistency of the previous two albums. I loved every song on those. Here, I find Spilt Needles kind of meh, and A Comet Returns annoying. Turn On Me and Girl Sailor are good but fall a little short of true greatness. It's still an excellent album though. Australia and Sea Legs are two of the best songs ever.
