Really looking forward to the remastered album. I love this album and it will be interesting to see if it loses or gains any magic in the process. As much as I love lo-fi, the drums always sounded so terribly muffled.

I asked one of the guys from the Shins back in 2004 whether they ever play Flake Music at shows, and he said occasionally during sound checks but that was it.

This has probably been asked a bunch of times, but do The Shins play any of these songs at their shows? I'm with everyone here and like Flake Music better.

I love the shins and this stuff is crazy good. actually I wished they stayed a bit more lo-fi. this stuff here reminds me of mr. malkmüs a lot, but also E6 as mentioned below. really awesome stuff so far.

I found the Spork EP at my local record shop. Cost me 40 bucks, but it was worth it.

apparently James Mercer was inspired by the Apples in Stereo and the Olivia Tremor Control and formed Flake Music because he wanted to make something similar... so probably why a lot of people hear similarities to NMH... (he said this when the Shins were "Live on KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic" on November 10, 2003... which I just realized I somehow have in my iTunes)
