So pleased with the remaster, obviously we will always have the old one @Mfinstatos, but I'm so glad with how the new is sounding, added vocals on Mieke are lovely. Only gripe is with the terrible new track titles that replace the 'Untitled'. 'Faded Polaroids' hahaha
Really looking forward to the remastered album. I love this album and it will be interesting to see if it loses or gains any magic in the process. As much as I love lo-fi, the drums always sounded so terribly muffled.
I love the shins and this stuff is crazy good. actually I wished they stayed a bit more lo-fi. this stuff here reminds me of mr. malkmüs a lot, but also E6 as mentioned below. really awesome stuff so far.
apparently James Mercer was inspired by the Apples in Stereo and the Olivia Tremor Control and formed Flake Music because he wanted to make something similar... so probably why a lot of people hear similarities to NMH... (he said this when the Shins were "Live on KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic" on November 10, 2003... which I just realized I somehow have in my iTunes)
When You Land Here It's Time To Return to be reissued on James Mercer's label, Aural Apothecary! :) http://pitchfork.com/news/35257-shins-james-mercer-spills-about-lineup-changes-new-album-other-projects/
i cannot believe i didn't know about flake music until now. the shins are my fucking favorite band, and that's saying something because i'm veryy into music. i just found "When you land here, it's time to return" on itunes and bought it immediately (and i never buy things from itunes. Now all I need is the hidden tracks (untitled ones) and i'll be set. i'm going to a store tomorrow to buy a hard copy of the cd (i'm assuming that'll have the hidden ones?)
