Modern Vampires was a step in the right direction for the band, but on the next record, a crust punk influence would really do the band well.

CagedElephants & Volcomaestro - I think the major appeal is that they pair catchy and well conceived melodies with intelligent and extremely referential lyrics. How many other bands would casually name drop Crassus into a song? Then on top of that you have Ezra with his unique delivery and Simonesque sensibilities, pretty interesting percussion, and this really self-aware, hyperbolic Northeastern aesthetic they've cultivated for themselves... somehow it all just works.
