I had so much hope for MGMT when I seen them live in 2011... I was drunk but I remember saying something ridiculous like "this guy could be the Lou Reed of our generation" about Andrew, it was a stupid thing to say. But it was how I felt at the time. I legitimately believed this band would create some important music in this time at this show, it was hard not to believe it. They seemed so sure of what they were and what they could do with it (as seen in the Bauhaus cover they released around that time). I'm not saying I don't still believe in MGMT, but when I seen them 3 years ago I figured they would've released something (else) important by now. The self-titled record just didn't do that for me. Maybe it'll come in the future, I guess I'm still holding out hope. Better try to make it more realistic this time.
