    Yes this is pretty dreadful and probably why I missed his genius over the last 40 years. He seems to have been such a perfectionist that he re recorded many types of versions of his own songs.....several years and much living have produced heartfelt masterpieces.

    John Martyn had a habit of allowing substandard alternative versions of tracks to get out of the studio. This is one of them. Not a patch on the Solid Air version. But man could he play. And sing. RIP

    luv john martyn back in 75 he made a limited edition albun which i sent off for he wrote personal message saying sorry to hear bout yer old man as paul was in prison at the time he wrote a bit more personal stuff

    this song is symbolic to me i lost my two best friends in 74 and this song was special to us penny was the only woman friend that i have ever had who never stabbed me in the back she commited suicide when her partner my husbands best friend died may they all r.i.p
