I particularly enjoy traditional Acadian and Celtic fiddling. :) Also, if it ever comes to where you live, do NOT miss the National Folk Festival. Or if you come to Bangor, Maine in August, its offshoot (the American Folk Festival on the Bangor Waterfront).

At first, I thought folk was some hillbilly music because of the name. Then someone got me intrested in it and realized what it truly was. There is nothing more beautiful then the sound of folk music.

terms evolve with the times, if they aren't forgotten. I think it's cool folk has evolved to cover such a variety of sounds.

Shalotka folk music isn't just traditional, world or celtic music. Folk is more a way of composing rather than a specific sound. If you wanna call this stuff contemporary-folk instead that might be more appropriate to you, but as far as I see nothing stops this from being folk music.
