About this album

The Suburbs is the third studio album by Canadian indie rock band Arcade Fire, released in August 2010. Coinciding with the announcement the band released a limited edition 12-inch single containing two tracks from the album, “The Suburbs” and “Month of May”. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Irish Albums Chart, the UK Albums Chart, the U.S. Billboard 200 chart, and the Canadian Albums Chart. It won Album of the Year at the 2011 Grammy Awards, Best International Album at the 2011 BRIT Awards, Album of the Year at the 2011 Juno Awards, and the 2011 Polaris Music Prize for best Canadian album. Two weeks after winning Grammy’s Album of the Year, the album jumped from No. 52 to No. 12 on the Billboard 200, the album’s highest ranking since August 2010. Arcade Fire released a deluxe edition CD/DVD of The Suburbs on June 27, 2011 (everywhere except the U.S. and Canada). The American and Canadian versions were released on August 2, 2011, to coincide with the original album’s anniversary.

Definitely I love this album, but I don't think this album is their best album.

I think if this were a 10-11 tracks records, would be their best work. too many fillers tracks.

this album is so autumn that i can't stop listening to it every year in this period, it gives me an extraordinary melancholic blissful feeling and smell of a cold drizzle

Yeah, when I first found it I wasn't that grabbed by it. It must've been around when it came out, I think I got it by word of mouth exclusively. But it's grown on me, there's just something really good in it. yeah, not as good as Funeral, that's obvious. but I think I prefer it over Neon Bible by a slight bit. and probably over Reflektor, too.

I really like to listen to this album when Autumn just begins

Never got into this one. Funeral and Neon Bible are way better. Reflektor is also better than this.

To me The Suburbs is a mixture between Funeral and Neon Bible, it takes their pros creating what in my opinion is their best work.

Musically they're great, but there's something unsettling about this band. I think it's their arrogance.

I love how this album has a very particular take on mixing alt-country/traditional folk music with rock and electronics, especially on tracks like "Wasted Hours", "The Suburbs" and "Suburban War". Arcade Fire was the first band to successfully pull it off since Wilco circa "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot". 10/10
