Interpol is a Post-Punk band based in New York City, United States, that took an important part in the of the 2000s. The band consists of Paul Banks (vocals and guitar), Sam Fogarino (drums), and Daniel Kessler (guitar and backing vocals).

The band’s sound is generally a mix of staccato bass and rhythmic, harmonized guitar, with a snare heavy mix, drawing comparisons to post-punk bands such as Joy Division and The Chameleons.

The band formed in 1998 when Daniel Kessler met drummer Greg Drudy, previously a member of / band Joshua Fit for Battle and Hot Cross, on the New York University campus. Kessler later added Carlos D. on the bass after meeting him in a history class. The line-up was complete after Kessler ran into Paul Banks, a friend whom he had met in Paris. In 2000, Sam Fogarino, whom the band knew through his job at a local record store, replaced Drudy. Carlos Dengler, who was responsible for bass and keyboards, left the band in 2010, and hasn’t been replaced, but announced various names to help them perform live.

The band released Direction on the soundtrack of the television program ‘Six Feet Under’ on June 28, 2005. Shortly thereafter they left Matador for a major label.

Our Love to Admire was released on July 10, 2007 in the USA (July 9 in the UK) to generally favorable reviews. The Heinrich Maneuver was its first single.

I can dig it. Much more inspired than the S/T and more stripped back than OLTA. A handful of the tracks are straight gold.

New album is actually pretty good, should cater to those people who thought their last very Carlos D-inspired album lacked energy. The only thing that bothers me is the mastering, just like OLTA severe case of "loudness wars" lack of nuance on a couple of tracks unfortunaty. But excellent tracks like My Desire and Tidal Wave are good enough despite this anyway.

"they need to renew their sound, it's getting so tiring since the second album." Lol what? None of their albums sound anything alike. The S/T, in particular, was a big sonic departure from their previous records. I think Interpol does a great job of changing things up.

They're not a band who's going to reinvent the wheel every record. Its not prog rock. While it may be a formulated effort there is still experimentation/variation. Its also great lyrically and in terms of sonics. Not their best, but better than their previous two albums. I do not miss Carlos D in the slightest to be honest. Probably their most accessible record to date on top of everything.

Minha relação com Interpol continua estranha, mas eu acho que o "El Pintor" pode solidificá-la.

It clearly seems that Paul's voice has changed since the last self-titled album. Maybe I should call it that the way he uses his voice has changed and I did not like it at all. Also, the album version of Anywhere is really weird. I liked the first version on youtube. My Desire is a beautiful song. Two or three songs can be favourite. I don't know what else to say. Whatever they do, there is always this thing that clicks the sound of Interpol in every song. I don't want to come up with Carlos thing but I miss him.

Interpol could make 15 more albums just like what they have been doing for more than 10 years and they would still have fans. El Pintor was a good effort, but it's still not enough, they need to renew their sound, it's getting so tiring since the second album.
