About this album

Universal Music International Div. (2004) Released: 2 Mar 2004 13 tracks (56:03)
You Forgot It in People is a 2002 album by Broken Social Scene. It won the Alternative Album of the Year Juno Award in 2003. It followed Feel Good Lost, and was the band’s commercial and artistic breakthrough. Many of the songs that didn’t make it onto the album were featured in a B-sides compilation titled Bee Hives released in 2004. You Forgot It in People features intricate, experimental production techniques and a large number of instruments coinciding with the band’s vastly expanded size.

Music videos were made for a number of tracks, including singles “Stars and Sons”, “Almost Crimes”, “Pitter Patter Goes My Heart”, and “Cause = Time”. The album also features “Anthems for a Seventeen Year-Old Girl” and “Lover’s Spit”, two songs that went on to become the band’s biggest “fan favorites.”

In Chart’s 2005 reader poll of the 50 greatest Canadian albums of all time, conducted just three years after the album’s release, You Forgot It in People ranked fourth, behind only Sloan’s Twice Removed, Neil Young’s Harvest and Joni Mitchell’s Blue. The album also placed 27th on Pitchfork Media’s list of the 100 best albums from 2000 to 2004, and 28th in Bob Mersereau’s 2007 book The Top 100 Canadian Albums. Stylus Magazine placed it seventh on their Top 50 Albums: 2000-2005.

I know it's a re-issu cover, but look, all You Forgot It In People is built around this cover, the book, the promo, the movie, the singles... The original cover was never intended to be the cover. Maybe not the original, but this is the right cover to use for this album.

Every time I listen to a song from this, I think "This is the best song on the album". Then I get to the next song and I'm like "No wait, this is best song on the album". I love albums like that.

This album is the soundtrack to what it feels like to be alive. Sometimes this is the only thing I listen to for weeks on end. [2]

Complete opposite for me. If Capture the Flag doesn't immediately grab my attention, then the pounding and pulsating drums of KC Accidental absolutely command my attention. That's typically the point of no return for me.

this is one of those albums you put on mindlessly, possibly in the background, but about halfway through you're having trouble focusing on anything else

v Word. Shampoo suicide is the emotional climax of the album. It's insane.

A front-to-back masterpiece. High, low, fast, slow. It all flows together.

Much prefer the reissue cover because it goes hand in hand with Bee Hives. YFIIP cannot get more perfect though.
