Progressive metal

Progressive metal is a subgenre of heavy metal, which blends the powerful, guitar-driven sound of metal with the complex compositional structures, odd time signatures, and intricate instrumental playing of progressive rock. Progressive metal is guitar-driven and often features varying (and sometimes sudden) changes in time signatures. The genre is also known for lending itself to complex and extended guitar solos. Consequently, progressive metal songs can become relatively long. Read more…|Edit this Artist photo: Anathema

v All cultures are pretty bad, but I'd rather be around a proggy than a hip hop fan that likes Lil John. Personal preference.

Lighten up Oates. This is a cool genre, snobby fans or not. This track is proggy metallish from a group that is generally more drone/dark electronica:

prog metal fans tend to be incredibly snobbish, and this is no surprise. however, prog metal fans are actually about 10 times worse than your average common-or-garden snob, because the music they listen to is nowhere near good enough to justify their immense levels of snobbery. prog metal fans naturally feel insecure about this, and so make a habit of listening to 10 minutes of classic FM or half a miles davis album every few months just so that they can tell people that they're "also really into jazz and classical".

Hey I started a new group for music fanatics, the focus is going to be different than the ExMF and the frosty paradigm. It's a bit of an experiment but if a bunch of people get in it could be cool. Join if you are interested. I want this group to become a center for music discussion on Lastfm (even though it's metal centered, other genres are more than welcome to be discussed.) Cheers!

@ExtremeSuicide yeah I know hey. I'm also going to stop eating Oranges. I really like them, but someone told me Apples are actually better. So I'll tell my taste buds they're wrong.
