The Mint Chicks are an experimental punkrock pop group from , . Formed in 2001, they began by playing punk house parties and low profile shows before being discovered by acclaimed New Zealand independent record label . They have since released four records under the Flying Nun banner: ‘Octagon, Octagon, Octagon EP’(2003), ‘Anti-Tiger EP’(2004), and ‘F**k The Golden Youth’(2005) and ‘Crazy? Yes! Dumb? No!’ (2006), all of which are produced and recorded by the band’s core members Ruban Nielson (guitar) and Kody Nielson (singer and wurlitzer piano player). The other members of the Mint Chicks are Michael Logie (bass) and Paul Roper (drums).

Their album “Crazy? Yes! Dumb? No!” has achieved huge success in New Zealand, winning several New Zealand Music Awards:

They have recently been signed to Milan Records and relocated to Portland, Oregon. They are performing local shows in preparation for a national tour, dates TBA.

The American release of “Crazy? Yes! Dumb? No!” CD/digital was 9/9/2008 and the LP was released the next day, 10/7/2008.

The Mint Chicks recently released their third album “Screens” in March 2009. On Christmas Day 2008 thy released the Mintunes EP for free download on their website, which contained “8-bit” versions of both old and new songs.
