There are two main styles described as "deep techno":

1) The more subdued Basic Channel-style . Examples: Maurizio, Fluxion, Deepchord.

2) Any soulful/melodic techno, mostly ; the name is in analogy to . Examples: Aril Brikha, Joris Voorn, Vince Watson.

    Is it possible that in a lot of artists the two sub-styles have combined? I'm not sure if this is a recent development. For example Shed's song, Follow the Leader, has a very heavy dub techno influence, but also seems to have a soulful, melodic one, as described above.

    Deep techno doesn't exist, exist just [tag]ambient techno[/tag] or [tag]minimal techno[/tag], this is more ambient techno by the way

    @humaniac: Deep techno can be ambient but ambient techno doesn't have to be deep. So even if they do overlap in many cases, they are not the same thing.
