The band is regarded as one of the pioneering acts of the Gothenburg metal scene, alongside At the Gates and Dark Tranquillity. The lineup has undergone numerous changes, with vocalist Anders Fridén and guitarist Björn Gelotte being the only members to have remained continuously since 1995.
