There's not an IF album I could say I 'love' aside from Colony. Easily one of the best melodic death metal albums if you ask me. Though, for some reason, every time they're coming out with a new album I either pre-order it or buy it the day it comes out. There's not an IF album that I would consider horrible, they've just been releasing average albums for years now. I guess I'm just waiting for them to put out something special like we all know they're capable of. No, that doesn't mean "they have to return to their roots!!11!!!11" sell outs!1" I could care less about style, it's just a matter of how it's executed. I would love if they released an album in their new alt. metal style that was actually intriguing and not the same, rather predictable stuff they've been releasing since RTR. Not really into the new album title, but I'm most definitely going to pre-order it.

Yeah shoutboxes was down during the IF's website hacking and the announcement of the new IF album. The sample sounds interesting and not sure what i think of the album name yet, though i generally let album names sink in or i just listen to the album if it's already out. I enjoyed SOAPF more then i did with ASOP so i'm pretty sure the new one will be good. And i think it's better silent then a bunch of old school IF fans start ranting how the album is going to sound awful lulz.

@dikdiel13 I don't think the shout boxes have been working for the last few days, but yeah the new alums sounds very diffrent from every thing they have done so far aleast from the title and the sample but I can't let a title and a 30 second clip ruin my expections for a whole album...

Damn this shoutbox is silent lel. At least now the album has been announced even though it's 5 shitty months away. What do you think about the album name ''Siren Charms''? I like it. Doesn't sound very ''In Flames-ish'' but still good. The 30second sample sounded really awesome though. If you haven't heard the sample yet:

I started with Come Clarity too. And tbh, I don't think it was a dumb idea.

@TheTailedBeast: I'm pretty sure this is heavier than anything In Flames has ever released. And even if not, their latest material is still heavier than the latest In Flames material. And even if it wasn't, that's still not an argument in terms of quality. As far as the vocals goes, I have a hard time agreeing with you. I'd like to hear Anders try to pull of any of the stuff from the previous song I posted. Or showcase stamina like at the 1:32 part of this song. Jester Race is an enjoyable album, but even there, Anders was no better than Marionette's new vocalist is. He DID have less stamina, though...

Check out The Conjuration's new album "Surreal"! Experimental/Artistic Death Metal at its best. They even covered "F(r)iend" by In Flames! Free album download at

@Syndicaidramon about that "Marionette"... the music and riffs are interesting, but not very heavy. Also, the vocals are inferior to The Jester Race/Whoracle vocals. But you like them, so why the hell should we discuss it? Though I am still rather gonna listen to "Subterranean", that's for sure.

Well you like them, so that's all that really matters. My comment was just basically a response to 'why do people still listen to IF. I stated my opinion about that, even if IF is all washed out now, dull and boring or whatever people still like them. For me personally i didn't think their latest album was bad, but nothing overly exciting either.

I dunno... I mean, I am aware that there are a couple tracks where marionette show influence of Hardcore, like in När Du Ruttnar Bort on their latest album, but for the most part, I find them to be mostly in the Metal realm of things. I like them because I find their style and songwriting to be so fresh and original compared to most other modern bands assosiated with the MDM genre. Particularly due to their (in my opinion) brilliant use of synth and ambient atmosphere. Like in the intro and outro of A New High for instance, or in the two previous tracks I posted. Not to mention that they've always had extremely competent vocalists. Particularly their first vocalist, Axel.
