About this album

Fighter Street Records 17 tracks (62:14)
Reroute to Remain is the sixth studio album by In Flames. The album was released on September 3, 2002 on Nuclear Blast. Reroute to Remain was In Flames’ first big step towards mainstream music, and was rejected by sections of In Flames’ fan base upon its release. It is sometimes viewed as a transitional album between Clayman and Soundtrack to Your Escape. The album’s more accessible sound attracted many new fans, and launched In Flames into the US metal scene, securing them the top spot at Ozzfest. However, many fans of In Flames’ earlier albums rejected this release, claiming that the band had sold out because of its American influences from scenes like alternative metal, nu metal and metalcore. Despite this, the album peaked at #13 on the Top Independent Albums chart.

I have not listened to this album for a long time... and yeah, it's still a very pleasant, solid and catchy album. Obviously not their best, but their best TO DATE. It's so much better than any album they released after. And lol at the guy who called this "alternative rock".

This isn't death metal, melodic death metal, or metal. It's alternative rock at this point.

Retrospection can be a funny thing. This album is quite good.

Why is there 'melodic death metal' tag for this album?

I have to admit, this is one of my favorite albums of theirs. It's just so easy to listen to.
