Davison MI, United States (2001 – present)

Chiodos is an American post-hardcore band from Davison, Michigan, formed in 2001. Originally known as “The Chiodos Bros.” the band’s name was a tribute to filmmakers Stephen, Charles, and Edward Chiodo, responsible for the movie Killer Klowns from Outer Space. Their second full length album, Bone Palace Ballet, was released in North America on September 4, 2007 and debuted at number 5 on the Billboard 200 and number 1 on Top Independent Albums. Warner Bros. Records released Bone Palace Ballet on January 26, 2009, as part of a new distribution deal in the UK.

Chiodos was formed at the Flint Local 432, a small venue in downtown Flint, Michigan and Olde Jamestowne Hall in Saginaw, Michigan. The band is known for their on-stage performances which include controlled, high-pitched vocals from former lead singer, Craig Owens. Craig Owens has cited lead singer of Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, etc. fame, Mike Patton as one of his greatest influences saying, “I only wish I could be as good as him.”

Their debut album, All’s Well That Ends Well (Equal Vision Records) was released on July 26, 2005. It reached #3 on the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart and #164 on the Billboard Top 200 chart. While their sophomore album, Bone Palace Ballet reached the number 5 spot on the Billboard 200. The band’s albums and live performances have garnered praise from press outlets.

Chiodos headlined some shows on their own before joining Alternative Press’s 2006 “Invisible Sideshow” tour, headlined by Armor for Sleep.

man, what happened to this band? Devil was horrible. Illuminaudio was by far the best thing they had worked on... i don't really know what Devil is. just sounds really uninspired, might as well not have had Craig back, or added Thomas Erak to the line-up (however temporary it might've been).

I'd actually really love to hear Craig do Love Is A Cat From Hell, Modern Wolf Hair, Notes In Constellations and Those Who Slay Together Stay Together.

lol TFOT reformed a while ago, and Craig Owens has stated that he wants to incorporate a bit of Illuminaudio into their sets, so the rest of the musicians in the band can play the stuff they wrote without him and for fans of the album, but he didn't feel comfortable doing songs from it on the "reunion" tour.

@fazmuffin: Craig did say in at least one video interview that he's not opposed to playing Illuminaudio songs live and that it would be a possibility. If I'm remembering correctly, it was an interview during the UK leg of Warped Tour 2013. Maybe he's said something on Twitter more recently about it, but I don't use Twitter so feel free to correct me if that has changed.

I've been listening to prog music since 14. Love the mars volta, protest, lot of post-rock and even alot of prog bands like king crimson from the 70s. Don't judge a book by it's cover. And my previous music listening shouldn't judge how capable I am in expressing my opinion either way

To be fair dude you don't really listen to any prog music from briefly looking at your page so it's expected that would be your opinion.

Harsh bro. My opinion: Illuminaudio was a step down from Bone Palace Ballet.

Typical that they now don't play any Illuminaudio songs live. No chance I'll support this band again. Illuminaudio was such a great album, progressive, interesting. Devil is just a huge pile of shit. No drive. It just sucks. Erak is wasted here. Leave and reform TFOT please.
