Biography

Beady Eye are an English rock band formed in 2009. The band consists of vocalist Liam Gallagher and guitarists Gem Archer and Andy Bell, formerly of Oasis, rounded by drummer Chris Sharrock who substituted for Oasis during their last tour in 2008/2009, before Oasis broke up after chief songwriter and lead guitarist Noel Gallagher quit acrimoniously in August 2009. The remaining members gathered on and decided that they “will not quit making music together” and so they formed the band Beady Eye. In 2013, former Kasabian guitarist Jay Mehler joined the band.

Since forming, the band has released one album Different Gear, Still Speeding (2011) with a second, BE, expected to follow in early 2013. The band has received general acclaim for their music by Oasis fans, with Q claiming that their debut album is the best Liam has performed on since ‘(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?’.

Current members:
Liam Gallagher – lead vocals, piano
Gem Archer – guitar
Andy Bell – guitar
Chris Sharrock – drums

I'm so glad that I persevered and gave BE a second listen. It didn't do much for me at first, but then suddenly I just fell in love with it. There's many great tracks and it's a thoroughly solid album. I'm so glad Oasis split up and now we have two great inspired bands, instead of one where everyone was miserable.

Saw them live in Cologne last saturday and I only can agree they were GREAT!! And yes, they did a brilliant cover of Gimme Shelter in the end. Btw., Andy played the lead guitar at most of the songs, and he did it great!

Probably not THE best, but definitely in the top 5 greatest bands I've seen live. Perhaps it was Liam's intoxicating rock & roll swagger and charisma, but their songs were mega, they ended the set with a brilliant & completely inspired cover of "Gimme Shelter", AND, I've never seen musicians look so sublime on stage. Mad fer it!!!!!!!!!!!

I very much like BE; one of my favorites of 2013. "Flick of the Finger", "Iz Rite", and "Second Bite of the Apple" are great tracks, and I have a soft spot for "Soon Come Tomorrow". I'm not really much of a current rock guy, so maybe that's my problem (in the event that I have one), but BE's on par with most of the good alternative rock albums I listened to that came out last year, certainly.

Probably not THE worst, but definitely in the top 5 worst bands I've seen live. Perhaps it was Liam's overwhelming narcissism and arrogance, but their songs were boring, they ended the set with a slow & completely uninspired cover of "Gimme Shelter", AND, I've never seen musicians look so miserable on stage.

I think BE is better than DG,SS because it has more slow and acoustic songs. In fact, I'm Just Saying and Face The Crowd are my least favourite songs of the new album. I believe they fail when they want to sound rock-ish, they've lost that.

They played a really solid set at the Sydney BDO despite a terrible and lacklustre crowd (a few members of which pushed Liam's buttons and prompted his wrath). If only those who slated them saw their INCREDIBLE performance at the Enmore in Sydney the night after.
