I can't listen to this so often because it is really to good and to depressive.

Their second best, only behind The Mantle (which is one of the greatest albums ever made). Most bands will never record anything even approaching this caliber of music.

And, adding to what I said two days ago: I am currently addicted to this album. I love how they were trying to explore some new elements here, even some things that are already common to other bands from similar genres, but which I never imagined to hear on Agalloch. Those were all great surprises, like the whole Ghosts of the Midwinter Fires and the vocals on Black Lake Niðstång, or even the intro to the album. Perfect release. I never regret my love for this band, wish I could see them live someday.

When this album came out, I just couldn't listen to it. Some sort of unconscious resistence, I guess. I've donwloaded this as soon as it was on the internet, but I am, right now, on the very first listen. No idea of what was wrong with me. This sounds amazing.

Really grown on me, I think what cermented it was listening to this wondering in the pitch black fields with only the moon to guide my path...still tripped over a few times, but was awesome none the less. Until the tortured screams kicked in 'Black Lake', then i ran home terrified...

after many listens, I have to say this album is just not bad, but not even close to The Mantle and Ashes Against the Grain but close enough to Pale Folklore

It's just as good as every other Agalloch record. By that I mean it's fucking amazing.

Probably their best, and certainly not the weakest. But then again, that could be said for all their releases.

Their best. It's kind a like Pale Folklore but much better. And Pale Folklore is on the top 3 albums by Agalloch.

My favourite Agalloch release. I can't imagine why people dislike it.

Five months after first hearing this and not being all that impressed, I'm definitely digging this a lot more on my second listen.
