Punk rock (often referred to simply as punk) is a rock music genre and movement that developed between 1974 and 1976 in the United Kingdom, United States and Australia. Rooted in garage rock and other forms of what is now known as protopunk music, punk rock bands eschewed the perceived excesses of mainstream 1970s rock. I didn't said "these bands aren't punk". they are punk but they aren't a real punk rock bands... they are something like pop punk / pop rock bands for me. well, but we can many bands describe as punk... psychobilly is punk, deathrock is punk and pop punk is also punk... what is punk? it's associated with punk subculture movement music. punk is innovate, rebellious, expressing punk ideologies aloud music. that is punk! and even if such pop punk bands as Green Day or The Offspring brought for this all punk genre more popularity it doesn't mean they are pure punk rock bands! they can be punk bands but surely not punk rock bands... ok. they can be here but not as top artists!
