Gothic Metal: Gothic metal (also called Goth Metal) is a subgenre of heavy metal music. It is characterised as a combination of the dark and often haunting atmospheres of goth rock with the power and heaviness of the extreme metal subgenres and doom metal placing heavy emphasis on a deeply focused vocal style. Only true goth metal is metal influenced by actual goth music like The Sisters of Mercy, Fields of the Nephilim, Christian Death and such, not the sweetened-up, pussified doom metal with female vocals and symphonic sections. And both the poser-metalheads who think they're goth for listening to it, and the trve goths who hate and look down upon metal, can fuck off.
