Youth Lagoon is an American art project started in 2010 by musician Trevor Powers (born in San Diego, California, raised in Boise, Idaho). Powers has been active in Youth Lagoon since 2010. His debut album The Year of Hibernation was released on Fat Possum Records on September 27, 2011. The debut album explores themes such as psychological dysphoria and mental distress, and is based around minimalism and hypnotic ambience. Wondrous Bughouse, Youth Lagoon’s second release, revolves around themes of the metaphysical universe. Powers’ music is a blend of Americana music and Experimental music with atmospheric and electronic elements. Youth Lagoon is based in Boise, Idaho.

Wondrous Bughouse, Powers’ sophomore album (due March 5 worldwide via Fat Possum), was spawned from what he describes as “becoming more fascinated with the human psyche and where the spiritual meets the physical world.” During the time he wrote, Powers became intrigued with the metaphysical universe and blending those ideas with pop music.

“Youth Lagoon is something so personal to me because writing music is how I sort my thoughts, as well as where I transfer my fears,” explains Powers.

“My mental state is usually pretty sporadic…a lot of this record was influenced by a fear of mortality but embracing it at the same time. Realizing that human life is only great because it is temporary. Experimenting with ideas about dimensions. Music always makes sense.

Yesterday Trevor Powers posted on facebook: "hello dear friends and subscribers of the facebook empire -- i have been offline for quite some time so that i can focus my attention on making an album. it will not be finished for a while still, so i am going back into the non-internet abyss (it's beautiful here). i will return soon. ! peace and love !"

Wondrous Bughouse é espetacular, mas nada supera The Year of Hibernation. É mais do que espetacular: é mágico.
