I believe some good songs from this album were killed by mediocre mixing, Release Release for example

Not as bad as its reputation but it's pretty much Yes going through the motions. Dont Kill the Whale is epic tho.

This album doesn't nearly deserve all the hate it gets.

A wasted opportunity here. The classic line-up sounds bored on this one. Anderson's lyrics are awful. Wakeman's keyboard patches sound cheesy. A couple of great tracks (Release, Release and Onward come to mind) but there are moments here that are truly gag-inducing. Shame.

Underrated. Not a Masterpiece, but full of very good compositions.

Completely agree about this being a underrated gem in their collection. Madrigal is 1000 out of 10 for me. And though Wakeman's keys in this one may annoy some, I personally found it rather charming and think it really works terrifically with these songs.

Underated. Anderson gets a bit twee with the UFOs and mythical candy floss, but he's always been an affable space-cadet lyrically. There's a specific keyboard Wakeman was noodling with throughout - the birotron or some such - that get's a bit samey. But the songs are great. Squire is not to be missed in On The Silent Wings Of Freedom.

Can't see why so many peopl slam this album, with the exception of Arriving UFO (where the hell did that one come from guys) This album is brilliant, and Wakeman was never better, or more prominant on the album. Sure on the other Wakeman Yes albums, you can hear him here and there and he has a few face melting keyboard solos but on this one his keyboard passages really are brought to the forefront and gel together many of the peices. Brilliant especially Release, Release.

Things started to go a bit downhill with this one, but it's not bad

It's not awful, just not nearly as good as their earlier (or later) stuff. Drama, 90125 and Big Gen were also better. That doesn't mean it's underrated. It's probably on a par with Talk.

Agree with CircusOfHeaven, one of my favourite Yes albums. Future Times/Rejoice is pure art.
