About This Track

Contains samples of comedian Bill Hicks. The title may be a reference to Hicks’ saying that psilocybe mushrooms were being used to “squeegee third eye clean.” The third eye is a metaphysical concept that may have to do with evolution of the human brain. A goal of the album Ænima as a whole was to “open people up in some way and help open their third eye and help them on a path.”

I love how a arrogant some people are. LOL " So while a literal God has never really existed, at least not as monotheism proposes" How in the hell do you know this with 100% certainty? You do not it's just your singular opinion. God is more than an idea and it's absurd to say otherwise. I will however agree that religion is a man made form of control, but the concept of God must be anchored in faith, almost every culture on this planet from pre-historic times to the current day believe in God in one way or another. Philosophers and Scientists cannot prove nor disprove the existence of an omnipresent God, or Gods for that matter. Proving what's real or not is an entirely different topic.

I doubt many people here have read Beyond Good and Evil to really reference Nietzsche. That book boils my brain.

"Why say that God is dead instead of stating the obvious which is that he never existed to begin with?" It's a reference to Nietzsche.

So while a literal God has never really existed, at least not as monotheism proposes, the figurative, symbolic idea of God is very real, and changes and evolves over the years. The connotation most of us have with the word "God," as a Christian/monotheistic diety, is what's dead. Words are just symbols in themselves, so it is important to discern whether we are speaking literally or figuratively when discussing whether a specific something (which is represented by, again, a word!) is "real" or not.

God is just an idea, a symbol created by humans that has translated into literal belief over the years (to control others for personal gain). When Nieztsche said "God is Dead," I think he meant that the purpose of the God, the idea/intention behind the symbology of God as creator, shephard, and overseer, has long-since expired and become more detrimental to mankind than beneficial, as it was intended to be (and may have been at one time). What god was intended to represent was love, and humanity has metaphorically "murdered" him by twisting it into just another tool to inflict hate and suffering onto our fellow man.
