San Francisco, United States (1993 – present)

Third Eye Blind is a band formed in the mid in San Francisco, California. The original members were Stephan Jenkins (singer, songwriter, electric guitar), Kevin Cadogan (guitar), Adrian Burley (drums), and Jason Slater (bass guitar). The band’s original line-up changed several times before the release of the group’s debut album, and again shortly after the release of the band’s second album Blue — at which point the band’s main guitarist Kevin Cadogan was released from the band under circumstances that still elicit controversy among fans. Third Eye Blind’s current line-up is Stephan Jenkins (vocals, electric guitar), Abe Millett (bass guitar), Brad Hargreaves (drums), and Kryz Reid (electric guitar). More recently, bassist Arion Salazar has not been playing with the band, and his future as part of the quartet is unclear. Leo Kremer has been filling in for Salazar during concerts, but it is not yet known if he will become a full-time member. For a time the band also featured ex-Smash Mouth drummer Michael Urbano and early Primus drummer Tim ‘’Curveball’’ Wright.

Third Eye Blind recorded their first demo in 1993. In 1996, the band landed an opening gig for Oasis, prior to which performance, so the legend goes, Third Eye Blind was warned that the crowd might throw food at them. As it turned out, however, they were invited out for an encore, even after Oasis had already played, bringing Liam Gallagher to tears and sparking the friendly rivalry that would form between the two bands.

Besides Stephan and the drummer is there still anyone left from the original lineup? A band whose members keep rotating in and out of the band surely can't last for long... Though I'm still waiting for an official confirmation (another one?) that "Dopamine" will be their last album.

"Everything is Easy" is good; but Kevin is the missing link. Those blokes need to grow a pair, apologize, and solidify their legacy of making killer tunes.

v agreed. Wounded is the true hidden gem in the Third Eye Blind catalog.

When "Blue" came out it sounded like pretty much everything else that was "hip" at the time, not really standing out and clearly blending in. Then, hidden in that album, was a precious little gem named "Wounded". Give it time, it's just one track, it's not even a bad one and I'm sure there'll be plenty more interesting ones in "Dopamine". Regardless of it being a grower or an instant hit, I'm sure the new album will be more than good enough and please the fans, just so that it can fit the style of the rest of their discography and earn its rightful place in the 3eb family. Or, you know, something like that.

I waited six years for this? Like yeah, it's a decent song, but out of Third Eye Blind I expected more. This song could be any top alternative artist right now. I guess it's good they're staying current but the last two albums were too original and too good. I hope they don't drop the ball with Dopamine.

Well, I came back, feeling a bit confused now: is "Dopamine" supposed to be that allegedly last 3eb album or not really anymore? There was no word about it in the piece of news I read regarding their new single and album.

"Everything is Easy" sounds DOPE(amine)!... OK, I'll go away now (while listening to "Everything is Easy" on repeat - a great single to introduce us to an awesome album, I CAN'T FUCKING WAIT FOR SUMMER 2015!!).

But yes, after all these years, "Wounded" is still the most likely candidate to best Third Eye Blind song of all time.

Blue > S/T > OOTV > Ursa seems far more accurate.

"I think that Wounded is, so far, at least on those two albums [1997's Third Eye Blind, and 1999's Blue], is the best song we've ever done. I think it's like the most quintessential song on either of the albums" - Stephen Jenkins (obviously when the band had just the 2 records..) I rarely play favorites but that songs just...well, it's BEYOND a song, basically. One of those that rates an 11 on a 1-10 scale, for sure.

I've loved this band forever and somehow just recently discovered 'wounded'. What an amazing fucking song that is. This is truly one of the most underrated bands ever, it makes me sad to think about how much amazing music we missed out on because Stephen decided to cut out kevin and ruin the band. Their other records are decent but they don't come CLOSE to the sheer pop-rock brilliance of the first 2.

Don't know why I never understood how utterly phenomenal this band was and still is... "Wounded" from the Blue-record.. probably one of the best songs I've ever heard. LOVING that album... I know the first 2 are absolutely amazing... definitely will be checking the other 2 out soon. Excited for the next one, too!
