Biography

Tommy Dunbar and Jon Rubin formed The Rubinoos while still in junior high school. By age fourteen, after playing a few school dances, they graduated to the club circuit. In 1975 the band was signed as one of the original acts on the newly formed Beserkley label. The Rubinoos made their recording debut that year with the song Gorilla, on the Beserkley Chartbusters LP. By 1977 the boys had finished recording their first LP The Rubinoos. Gene Sculatti of The New York Rocker called it “the best pop album of the decade.” The first single, a cover of the Tommy James classic “I Think Were Alone Now,” reached the top 40 nationwide and the top 10 in many major U.S. cities. Appearances on Dick Clarks American Bandstand, The Rolling Stone 10th Anniversary TV Special, and features in numerous Teen Magazines helped put The Rubinoos into the pop consciousness. At the same time, the group was receiving a lot of attention overseas: critical acclaim and airplay in Europe, and top tens in Japan and Australia. In 1978 they left for their first European tour. The first show was an appearance on German TV’s Rockpalast. The rest of the tour took them through northern Europe performing concert dates and appearing on assorted TV shows such as Top Pop (The Netherlands), Old Grey Whistle Test, and Rock Goes to College.

Avril can burn in Hell, but I pity the Rubinoos because the Stones' lawyers are going to rip them apart.

Why the hell would ANYONE tag this as Avril Lavigne. Disgraceful.

I had Thanksgiving dinner a few years back (actually, almost a decade ago) with a group of folks that included Jon Rubin. He was producing bands at the time. Nice guy.

I interrupt this thread of smack-talking by teenage consumer drones and meathead Swedes to announce that I got both the new Rubes box AND the Party of Two reissue in the mail today. I am therefore a happy, happy boy. We now return you to your ill-advised Avril sycophancy already in progress.

This Band is dead, sucks, and its pathetic all the people saying she stole the song just beacuse she use some words... They want fame saying avril copy this piece of crap. whatever most funny is see all the people that says avril steal this before, and now they say that she didnt copy but still bad and stuff. If u dont now dont talk ;)

bit pathetic to sue avril for copying as the two songs are completly different except for like three or four words of the chorus. and how many has seriously heard this band before they sued her? maybe it's time to look yourself in the mirror and ask yourself why you are suing people to left and right america.
