World Painted Blood

‘World Painted Blood’ is Slayer’s eleventh studio album.

Recorded between October 2008 through March 2009.
Released 3rd November 2009.

Initially released with four different collectors CD covers which together make up a map
of the ‘World Painted Blood’. Packaged in blood-red see through plastic sleeve.

A Deluxe edition digipak, (with it’s own seperate cover) contains a booklet and bonus
- ‘Playing With Dolls’ a 20 minute animation featuring tracks from the album.
This also contains an extra track not on the album.

Critical Reception to World Painted Blood have been very positive, with most reviewers seeing it as an improvement of 2006’s Christ Illusion while others praised the album for having more melody in the songs when compared to past Slayer albums. Some reviewers had also compared this album to Slayer’s “best four albums” (Hell Awaits, Reign in Blood, South of Heaven, and Seasons in the Abyss). World Painted Blood sold 41,000 copies in the US its first week, landing it a #12 spot on the Billboard 200.
