She & Him is an American indie folk band consisting of actress Zooey Deschanel and musician M. Ward. The pair first met in 2006 for a movie soundtrack project for the film ‘The Go-Getter’ in which they recorded a version of Richard and Linda Thompson’s “When I Get To The Border”. Their first album is sensibly (or optimistically) titled Volume One and was released on March 18, 2008 on Merge Records. In an October 2008 interview the pair announced that they are currently working on Volume Two. According to Merge, at that initial studio session the two “were immediately struck by one another’s talents and found an instant rapport”. During a conversation about their shared love of old records, Zooey let slip that she wrote her own songs, which she recorded alone at home on her computer. Somewhat shy about sharing these musical morsels, she was eventually persuaded to send them to M. He was instantly impressed, and they soon reconvened at his Portland, Oregon studio to begin work. Recorded over a period of several months, between acting work (She) and touring commitments (Him), the pair found time to bring Zooey’s fledgling songs to gorgeous fruition.

She was really good in Winter Passing, Almost Famous, The Good Life, and The Go-Getter. I think her problem is that she is always cast as the "cute and quirky" girl which doesn't require much acting wise.

I agree with lady_sati to an extremely less harsher extent. I'm not saying Zooey can't act, but I am saying that she's wasting her talent in portraying the same character again and again in different settings capturing the same exact audience. I'm one of the weirdos who thought (500) Days of Summer was on par with Juno in the 'If this film lasts another minute i'm going to scratch my eyes out' category. It'd be nice to see her break the cycle and play something ridiculous like a tap dancing psychopath werewolf. Anyway, I can't wait for M and Z to finish up Volume Two. My ears need a new material fix!
