Melbourne, Florida, United States (1965 – present)

Pearls Before Swine was an American band formed by Tom Rapp in 1965 in Melbourne, Florida, United States. The group signed to ESP Disk and recorded One Nation Underground, a fairly successful release that was followed by the anti-war Balaklava (1968). In the next few years, Rapp often referred onstage, not quite seriously, to the group as “the house band for the SDS” (Students for a Democratic Society). They continued to release albums and to tour until the 1970s, but Rapp retired in 1973 and became a lawyer, currently practising in Florida.

Very amazing band! I think the "lisp" gives it character - it adds uniqueness - it's real! <3

one of my friends has a lisp like this and he almost never talks, so i picture him when i listen to this band: skinny thao rockin out, taking his place behind the mic..

When you finally get over his terrible lisp, it's an amazing band. Can't see anything else that's bad about them.

That's strange Russel I heard an interview of Tom Rapp saying that Wavy Gravy provided them all with LSD for the making of the first album.

They remind me a of fantastic period of last year that suddenly turned to be tragic. My best friend ever; we got involved in a bad story, she told me she didn't want to see me anymore just when i was into Pearls Before Swine. Now they have a strange power on me. Drop Out!

Strong echoes of "Images of April" in Echo & the Bunnymen's "Ocean Rain". Strangely.

Rapp has said "The first two albums are probably considered the druggiest, and I had never done any drugs at that point. I smoked Winston cigarettes at that time, so these are all Winston-induced hallucinations." Bloody hell I'll have to get some Winston cigarettes maybe I'll create a Psychedelic Anti War Classic...Or maybe not :P
