That's EXACTLY my opinion... Just like ANNIHILATOR's "Set the World on Fire", it's the only album with Aaron Randall, WHAT a singer. Check him out !!

Night of the Stromrider is their masterpiece! So sad that there is only one album with John Greely.

Jon Schaffer is also an Alex Jones worshiping conspiracy nut like Dave Mustaine.

dark_wisdom: Unreflected patriotism is always a problem, especially when your country is blackmailing and terrorizing the rest of the world. Jon Schaffer is a great musician but he is stupid as fuck. I'm living in a country that is occupied by America since 1945. I really don't wanna hear any unreflected patriotism from Americans.

Top 3 Iced Earth for me is probably The Glorious Burden, The Dark Saga and Dystopia - and in that order. TGB is great throughout, and not just because of Gettysburg. It's pretty different from anything else the band has done, and while the controversy surrounding the album is well deserved, it still gets a bit too much flak for things not related to the music itself. But it seems even among the haters Gettysburg is well regarded, as it should be. :3

@dark_wisdom - Nothing wrong with patriotism but the jingoistic outlook of the US government and many of its supporters annoys people. TGB is a product of its time to some extent, being released just after 9/11, with a lot of focus on American history. Not a bad thing in itself as American history is often overlooked in musical terms. The song that I believe most people really dislike is 'The Eagle Cries' which was, at the time of release, probably the worst IE song I had ever heard (although that is more to do with the way it is sung more than anything else). Its overly sentimental. People also don't rate TGB that highly because it was the first album released after Barlow left and Owens was never going to fill those shoes. Personally, I rate TGB on the whole a fairly average IE album. Better than anything since but not as good as anything previous. Some songs I don't like but the whole album is really saved by the Gettysburg Trilogy, which imo ranks amongst the very best of IE.
