This is on-par with their previous works completely, I really don't see how so many people don't like it.

People are WAY too harsh on this album. As far as the songs go, they're the best lyrics and melodies that Dave has ever written. Sure, it's not that "punky" an album, but Flogging Molly never was a real punk band, anyway. This is by far the most mature album FM has released this far, and while Swagger, Drunken Lullabies, and Within a Mile of Home are all amazing in their own rights, the themes, lyrics, and technical aptitude displayed by the band on Float make it probably my favorite album. Dennis Casey in particular shines on Float; the guitar work on this album is some of his best. Also, when you see Flogging Molly perform live, you can see just how much they LOVE to play these songs live; when I saw them last week in Columbus, they put more energy and emotion into "(No More) Paddy's Lament", "Requiem for a Dying Song", "The Lightning Storm", "Us of Lesser Gods", and "Punch Drunk Grinning Soul" that any of the old material they played.

Not as catchy as Drunken Lullabies, by far. Kind'a interesting, though.
