It is the only album to feature keyboardist David Sherinian. The album's writing process, was noted to be very frustrating for the band, as their label wanted the band to create concise, radio-friendly songs, with drummer Mike Portnoy fighting against it. Dream Theater is an American progressive metal band formed in 1985 in Boston, Massachusetts. The group comprises John Petrucci (guitar), John Myung (bass), Mike Portnoy (drums), James LaBrie (vocals), and Jordan Rudess (keyboards).
