There are two different bands with this name:

1) Broken Records (Edinburgh)

Broken Records formed at the end of 2006 in Edinburgh, Scotland. With seven multi-instrumentalists utilising a wide range of instruments including piano, organ, violin, ‘cello, accordion, trumpet, mandolin, ukulele, harmonium and glockenspiel alongside guitars, bass and drums, they’ve set about bringing together their diverse musical backgrounds to create a dramatic and eclectic sound. 2007 was spent constantly gigging and refining their sound. During this time they won the T Break competition for unsigned bands which landed them slots at T in the Park, a headline show at the Liquid Room in Edinburgh and a BBC Radio session with Vic Galloway.

In 2008 they released their debut single “If The News Makes You Sad, Don’t Watch It” on London based indie label, Young Turks. The single received plaudits from such varied publications as NME, The Guardian, Drowned in Sound, The Sun and The Times. Steve Lamacq named it his Single of the Week and Huw Stephens invited the band to record a Radio 1 session at the BBC studios in Maida Vale.

A number of festival appearances followed, including Latitude, T in the Park and Leeds Festival which led to NME hailing them as “one of the country’s most exciting new bands” Channel 4 dedicating a show to them as part of Levis Ones To Watch, and 3 sessions for Marc Riley’s BBC6 show.

Back on it...

5 Nov 2009 | from blog.myspace.com/brokenrecordsedinburgh

So, with my lowdown on the latter half of the European tour still languishing somewhere in the dusty channels of my decrepit hard-drive back in Edinburgh, it appears we have hit the road again... …
