About this album

Columbia 18 tracks (89:05)
Blonde on Blonde is Bob Dylan’s seventh studio album, released in by Columbia Records.

It is believed to be the first significant in music, its length forcing it to two LPs, although some digital reissues fit the album on one compact disc. It is notable for injecting Dylan’s brand of , fully established on Highway 61 Revisited, with a more sound and even more lyrics. Despite its uncompromising nature, it has come to be regarded as one of Dylan’s greatest achievements, and “one of the greatest rock & roll albums ever made”.

It also marked the end of an era for Dylan, who would soon be involved in a motorcycle accident (significantly changing his musical approach).

Recorded in Nashville, the album was produced by Bob Johnston. It peaked at #9 on Billboard’s Pop Albums chart in the US, eventually going double-platinum, while it reached #3 in the UK. It is ranked as the ninth greatest album of all time by both VH1 and Rolling Stone.

I prefer Highway 61, BIABH and Blood on the Tracks, but this is still a great album.

Blonde on Blonde is supposed to be a reference to Edie Sedgwick who kept dying her hair blonde. Of course Blonde on Blonde also = BoB.

Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat is probably the funniest Dylan track I've heard. As for the album on the whole, the word play is ridiculous, and it grew on me the more I listened. Still view Blood on the Tracks as Dylan's best, but Blonde is definitely a special piece of work.

Would take forever to "LOVE" every track. This is the incredible music I grew up with - from 14 to...? This album especially. Kept me up past the dawn. NOTE: to those who were there: Reinzi's Cafe, 1962, winter, Camel cigs from the machine, he wanted change for another cappuccino while grubbing that ciggie.

So it be about Suze and Edie then? btw, I wish Edie and Bob Dylan would have married. They would have made a very good and odd love story.

Blonde on Blonde could be seen as a reference to his relationships :D especially with edie

Why is this called "Blonde on Blonde"? It's the title that got me to buy this album out of curiosity when I was still a Dylan rookie.
