About this album
It is believed to be the first significant double album in rock music, its length forcing it to two LPs, although some digital reissues fit the album on one compact disc. It is notable for injecting Dylan’s brand of blues rock, fully established on Highway 61 Revisited, with a more eclectic sound and even more surreal lyrics. Despite its uncompromising nature, it has come to be regarded as one of Dylan’s greatest achievements, and “one of the greatest rock & roll albums ever made”.
It also marked the end of an era for Dylan, who would soon be involved in a motorcycle accident (significantly changing his musical approach).
Recorded in Nashville, the album was produced by Bob Johnston. It peaked at #9 on Billboard’s Pop Albums chart in the US, eventually going double-platinum, while it reached #3 in the UK. It is ranked as the ninth greatest album of all time by both VH1 and Rolling Stone.

This album feels like going to a party after having not slept for 2 days and getting stoned and seeing some guy play a weird ass accordion in the corner and then falling asleep and waking at 5 AM by yourself feeling sick but still kind of good, and seeing this young lady stand there and handing you her arm and you just know it sort of feels right

A person shouldn't be allowed to make an album this perfect. The only thing that bothers me about it is Dylan's phrasing, which is basically the same the whole album.

In a 1978 interview with Playboy, Bob Dylan was asked if he hears songs in his head before he records them. "The closest I ever got to the sound I hear in my mind was on individual bands in the Blonde on Blonde album," he said. "It's that thin, that wild mercury sound. It's metallic and bright gold, with whatever that conjures up. That's my particular sound. I haven't been able to succeed in getting it all the time."

Comment peut - on dire que cet album est le 2 ème meilleur album de la carrière si prolifique de Dylan ? Tout le monde s'est prosterné devant cet album ultime ! Quand il est sorti , Hendrix a refusé de se nourrir , ne s'est pas drogué , n'a pas fait l'amour pendant 15 jours , n'a pas touché sa guitare ! Juste passé cet album en boucle ! L'énormissime respect qu' Hendrix avait envers Dylan (voir les innombrables docs vidéos) dataient d'avant .... mais là .... par cet album , Dylan a été le seul et unique artiste qui ait "scotché" Hendrix .... ce qui , excusez du peu .... Idem , The Beatles , The Rolling Stones , The Kinks , Bowie and .... so on ! la liste est évidemment interminable !

en 1966 ,BOB DYLAN ,se marca el granalbun de su carrera,dejando aparte,sus artilugios ortopedicos,DYLAN se electrifica y da paso a yn trabajo .inconmensurable,se puede decir que ese trabajo fue el primer disco doble de la historia por cronologia ,anterior al segundo el doble blamco de los beatles del año 1968. Fue todo un acontecimiento,gacias a un cambio de folk ,a un estilo mas de guitarra electrica, el disco es barroco y lirico,y evoluciono ,la carrera de dylan hacia cotas memorables

Blonde on Blonde is supposed to be a reference to Edie Sedgwick who kept dying her hair blonde. Of course Blonde on Blonde also = BoB.

Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat is probably the funniest Dylan track I've heard. As for the album on the whole, the word play is ridiculous, and it grew on me the more I listened. Still view Blood on the Tracks as Dylan's best, but Blonde is definitely a special piece of work.
