Last year's release of London's Native Dancer's debut EP, aptly titled EP Vol.I, was a wonderful insight into the workings of a super exciting project - one with an incredible sense of dynamics, atmosphere and clear playing ability. Exploring trip-hop and jazz rhythms with soul-pop-inclined vocals; the result was something truly remarkable with a future as bright as any. This was no surprise, of course, with the band being made up of members who play for The Cinematic Orchestra, Rosie Lowe, Lianne La Havas to name a few.
And so here we are, with the release of (you guessed it), EP Vol.II. Produced solely at Native Dancer's studio in east London, the band describe the space as their "creative and experimental sound lab". Today we are proud to present the premiere of their new single 'In Clouds' - a track showing beautiful restraint; loaded with interesting vocal hooks and deep, body-moving bass lines.
Vocalist Frida (who is currently on tour with Lianne La Havas supporting Coldplay) had this to say:
""We wanted to explore this intangible feeling that we belong to the earth and to each other but it's a feeling that is often not felt in day to day life for most people. With Tom Griffiths (director) we've tried to create a feeling of mystery in the film but at the same time capture a sense of comfort and release that you get from unlocking key questions about yourself. It's about being present and the power of the present moment and finding that power in clouds, in nature or just your immediate environment and trying to learn through that perspective. "
Watch below and catch the band at east London's Rich Mix on 18th May.
