Are you on Sony's Fantasy Festival yet? It rocks. http://fantasyfestival.last.fm/invite/?key=0c607c5a7d0e0dca930418ed07b779ff&r=shadrach_451

I see you've heard the new Built to Spill. How is it?

Thanks Shad. I'm really digging Roots and Crowns right now, that's the only other Califone record I've heard and it's sweet as too.

Wow, I didn't realize Califone was even being hyped by Pitchfork like that. The inclusion on the top 200 list is always an impressive one. Do you think Roots and Crowns would be a good place to dig a little deeper into their collection? Or should I start with a different album?

Hey man, just wanted to say thanks for the Califone recommendation! After hearing you gushing about it, I went ahead and picked it up, and needless to say, I am REALLY liking what I'm hearing. Dense, weird stuff, but so organic and warm.

Yeah, the local record stores are pretty dismal, although the used cd stores like Titlewave or Metro contain some gems. I found some Mogwai at titlewave and an Antioch Arrow cd at Metro. Nothing monumental but just enough to give me - hope? Oh man, I thought Eskimo Snow wasn't due out for awhile. Apparently it was pretty high on the KRUA charts, which was surprising to me. But I suppose their later stuff is more accessible than Oaklandazulasylm. Thanks! I just registered a couple of days ago. I registered as puppylove? :0)

I wasn't able to go. :0( I thought I would have been able to buy tickets at the door since I used the train of thought that there was no way it was going to sell out. Alas, it did. How was it? It sounds like you enjoyed it. By the way, I very much adore your music tastes! I'm assuming you live in Anchorage? I've never met anyone up here you likes Rachel's, Why?, Balmorhea, Subtle, etc. I'm also assuming you listen to those since it says we have those in common.

Thanks! I've been skeptical of last.fm for awhile but I decided to join. It bugged me because the stats would not accurately show what I listen to since I listen to most of my favourites on CD and then the more obscure, newer bands on mp3 players, iTunes, etc. But I'm going to be going to school in New Zealand so I transfered all my stuff from CD onto my mp3 and thought I may aswell start using last.fm too. I'm with you on the Califone that I prefer the first half more than back half but I'll have to give this one more listens. I'm definitely interested in checking out their back catalog now.
