exist†trace is an all-female visual kei band from Tokyo, Japan, which plays (melodic) gothic metal. The band - whose name means "a trace of existence," the cross representing the burden of life - started out in 2003 with a quartet of Jyou, miko, naoto and mally, with Omi joining the following year.
The band gathered attention for their harsh and dark sound in their early releases, but have since moved towards a more melodic tone.
