There are various bands/artists under the name Versailles:

1) A Japanese visual kei band

A Japanese symphonic metal band formed in 2007. Versailles’ key characteristics are their rococo-esque costumes, dueling guitar sounds and heavy but melodic arrangements. The concept is a formula of “absolute beauty and extreme aestheticism”. The duel guitars sound like rose vines grown riot over an agitated rhythm. Those sounds sketch the story of “The Descendants of the Rose”. In August 2008, the band had to change their name because of a trademark issue in the USA. Another artist there called themselves Versailles, and warned the band through their lawyer not to use the name in American territory. So the band added “Philharmonic Quintet” after the name Versailles. Versailles was formed by Kamijo (vocals), HIZAKI and TERU (guitars), Jasmine You (bass) and YUKI (drums). On August 9th, 2009, bassist Jasmine You suddenly passed away, only 30 years old. Due to this tragic event, the planned major debut on Warner Music Japan was delayed to January 2010. In September 2010, Versailles announced that their temporary support bassist Masashi (ex- ALPHA and Ash) will be the 6th member of the band, while Jasmine You will remain an “Eternal Member” of Versailles.

I think they need a new member that is a song-writing pianist. Almost all of my fave Versailles songs feature piano being played, and they need something new. :P

Yeah, Kamijo only wrote "Illusion" on that single. I hope Masahi gets to write another song on the next album, especially since the one he did write was a good deal rehashes of "Silent Knight."

Rhapsody of the Darkness is a Hizaki composition.

Pretsy, without Hizaki, there is no Versailles. Without Hizaki it would be a generic power metal band. Now at least it has some deccent solo's. If they are going to please you, we will only get songs like Rhapsody of the Genericness ;(

Just let Kamijo take the lead in compositions this time, I would rather see his "musical vision" than stick to Hizaki's 100x "how-to-do-7min-solos"-instructions (he was a good composer earlier but he seems to be dropping out of ideas these days)...and Teru/Masashi should have some kind of role in making (Thanatos and less than a handful songs ain't enough) too.

Lareine's music did in fact change into more of a direction Kamijo is working on with Versailles right now - if you are trying to compare Fierte no umi to tomo ni kyu (Lareine's best album btw, check it out) and Never Cage (okay album but it already sounds like a compilation of swansongs)...dear god no -> Destiny for instance would go as well as a b-side off Kamijo's last ventures with Lareine

Well. Actually as much as I like Lariene, one of my problems with that band is that...they sound the same. All the freaking time. Versailles at least seems to be experimenting and trying for a slightly different sound. Even if it doesn't seem to be working out. I can at least respect them for that (no disrespect to Lariene though. They just stuck with a working formula and that's fine, if not a little boring at times).
