Biography

There are various bands/artists under the name Versailles:

1) A Japanese visual kei band

A Japanese symphonic metal band formed in 2007. Versailles’ key characteristics are their rococo-esque costumes, dueling guitar sounds and heavy but melodic arrangements. The concept is a formula of “absolute beauty and extreme aestheticism”. The duel guitars sound like rose vines grown riot over an agitated rhythm. Those sounds sketch the story of “The Descendants of the Rose”. In August 2008, the band had to change their name because of a trademark issue in the USA. Another artist there called themselves Versailles, and warned the band through their lawyer not to use the name in American territory. So the band added “Philharmonic Quintet” after the name Versailles. Versailles was formed by Kamijo (vocals), HIZAKI and TERU (guitars), Jasmine You (bass) and YUKI (drums). On August 9th, 2009, bassist Jasmine You suddenly passed away, only 30 years old. Due to this tragic event, the planned major debut on Warner Music Japan was delayed to January 2010. In September 2010, Versailles announced that their temporary support bassist Masashi (ex- ALPHA and Ash) will be the 6th member of the band, while Jasmine You will remain an “Eternal Member” of Versailles.

I thought it worked decently well i didn't even notice it until people started bringing it up.

It was actually a pretty refreshing way to open a song for Versailles.

2 years later, I still don't understand the trip-hop intro into 'Thanatos.'

Banditoattack, ye it suprised me too. The guitar is pure metal. But i have the feeling its going to be more symphonic with more synthesizers en less lead guitar.

listen to the ridiculous narration on jubilee and tell me you still think it's a mistranslation. kamijo really is just that damn cheesy. also judging by the backing track, it's now confirmed that this, like jupiter, is also going to be exactly like versailles. what a big surprise. hizaki and kamijo split versailles into two projects that will sound exactly fucking like versailles. ego clash 2013 continues.

What? the "The Master is back" bit? I'd guess that was mistranslated, misinterpreted, or just put together on the spot. I thought it was funny! the cookie cutter movie commentator with some hilarious cliche's and then the ending punchline :D he's almost as big of a cheeseball as kamijo! luckily I'll bet he was only used for that one trailer.

I have heard only a few minutes of Zin singing. So, for me, it is too early to decide whether or not he is the right singer for Jupiter. But at least he is better than Teru. Sorry Teru.

I dont know, he doesnt sound like your typical power metal vocalist. I mean, for this genre you need alot of power in your voice, and you should at least have to sound a bit energetic. Zin just sounds straight boring, as if he is not even trying...

I like him i think he fits better with this type of sound and kamijio sounds better in versailles indie songs.

Ye, you basically wast your songs when you let him sing them. Hizaki should have kept these songs for Versailles. I mean we can all critise Kamijo, but his technique is way better then this guy. Besides, Kamijo perfoms well live and his voice at least have some character. This one is just too bland. Im sorry...

@Angeltearx: Totally agree with you... I wonder how long this project will last... really (the vocalist and the rest of the band are like in two different levels...) :/

there is a new preview out of the song Blessing of the Future. The vocalist is the weak link within the band. Lacks power, technique, feels generic and just doesnt sound exciting enough.

exactly you can't expect a band to stay the same forever which i wouldn't want but major label Versailles has sounded mostly the same to me... i wish they would go for the same sound they had going with noble but with better production and maybe an actual orchestra and things, that would be really neat!

Well, Hizaki Grace Project was really awesome (and I loved Juka's addition to the band) and I think Versailles older works was better (my favorite being Lyrical Sympathy which I hope to be able to buy anytime soon), but still, bands evolve/change with time and you can't expect them to stay in one way forever... even if we would love that in some cases :/

Ever since versailles went major its like they're zombies i just don't feel any soul in their music anymore its just too tacky and cheesy now even hizaki grace project which wasn't active since like 2006 is much better than this.

I can't say if hizaki's playing style is "original" or not but what i have noticed is his guitar playing just sounds so lazy and uninspired from what I've heard in the past and jupiter just sounds like major label Versailles with a typical vk vocalist cosplaying as kamijo.
