Antwerp, Belgium (1989 – present)
The Band, whose songs are primarily sung in English, performed their first concert on November 20th, 1989. The band displayed a bewildering array of influences, including Captain Beefheart, Mingus-styled jazz, J.J. Cale, Leonard Cohen and Velvet Underground. Consequently, they incorporate a wide variety of styles into their work. dEUS have become one of the most successful (and influential) Belgian rock bands.
Many musicians became well-known after having been members of dEUS: Stef-Kamil Carlens (Moondog Jr., Zita Swoon), Rudy Trouvé (Kiss My Jazz), Danny Mommens (Vive La Fête), Craig Ward (The Love Substitutes), Jules de Borgher and Tim Vanhamel (Millionaire, solo). The current line-up (as from the album Pocket Revolution) includes Mauro Pawlowski (who became famous as solo artist and before with the band Evil Superstars) on guitars and vocals, Alan Gevaert on bass and Stephane Misseghers on drums.
Erik Drew Feldman and David Bottrill have acted as producers.

I'm really happy that so many non-Belgian like this band, thay deserve it! I'm mostly into the older 90s stuff (Instant Street is my favorite) but the new ones also know how to surprise me.

To me it's the most amazing band ever! Every song is very different. Some soothe me (like Sister Drew and The Magic Hour) while other scare me (Easy and Hidden Wounds). Not many artist and bands can make me feel scared by music. Every album has it's own charm and a compleet other feeling, while the wonderfull dEUS-sound remains.

Keep You Close was a damn amazing album, far far better than I expected it to be. Now this new one is taking me by surprise all over again. Less big hooks on this one, but still brilliant stuff.
