Tornio, Finland (2000 – present)

Vortech is a Finnish band formed in Tornio, Finland in 2000, by Juha Untinen (2000-) and Tero Konola (2000-2004). The first official release came in 2004 with the release of Extinct (EP), followed by Asphyxiation (EP) the next year, both released as Sound Ogre. The name was changed to Vortech in 2005. In 2006, the first full length album, Conclusion, was released. The band continued on as a one-man-band until 2008, when Matti Särkimäki joined the band as a vocalist, after featuring on guest vocals on both Wasteland (2007) and Deep Beneath (2008). With this lineup, the first rehearsals started with backing tracks for drums and synths.

Posthumanism was released in spring 2009, and saw a good reception across the board. The album was one of the fastest ones the band had released, and almost all songs off it have been played live. In 2009, the band played their first gigs with the new lineup. Juha played rhythm and lead guitars, while Matti did the vocals. All other instruments came through backing tracks. After some more gigs, the songwriting for the next album started. In spring 2010, the recording of all instruments for the album was finished, and currently only the vocals remain to be recorded. Two releases were recorded simultaneously: a new full length, plus the Infocalypse (EP) with slightly different songs compared to the style of the album.
