About this album
Deep Beneath is the third full length release of Vortech and it was released on 6 March 2008. The album features Juha Untinen doing all the composing and instruments and Matti Särkimäki doing all the vocal work. Mikko Nurmos did some guest spoken vocals for the track
Subjugation.
Compared to the previous two albums, this album is more horror/fantasy oriented with lyrics heavily inspired by H.P. Lovecraft. The story follows a person being drawn by an unknown force to commit macabre acts unconsciously and finally jumping off a cliff for a journey to a righteously forgotten place only to awaken from a nightmare - which turns to reality soon enough. The album features more progressive elements compared to the previous releases, and is more synthesizer-driven overall.
The artwork for the album is somewhat more vague in terms of describing the album. One can think of the subject of the story as a monster whose mind is being controlled by an entity undescribable. The production of the album is slightly more organic, to depict the idea of a human losing control of the thoughts. Synthesizers are heavily present too, creating a more moody feel. 103 copies of the album have been manufactured in CD form.
