Biography

Trapt is an alternative band from Los Gatos, California. The band formed in 1995, after meeting in high school, with members: Chris Taylor Brown (vocalist), Simon Ormandy (guitarist), Peter Charrell (bassist) and David Stege (drummer) and recorded the albums ‘Amalgamation’ and ‘Glimpse’ to sell at local shows. After several rehearsal absences and negative feedback the band decided to let David go. While attempting to find a suitable replacement, the band signed to Warner Bros. Records and began recording their debut self-titled album. The band enlisted Robin Diaz, to perform drums on the record, and in turn Robin, helped the band find their permanent drummer, Aaron Montgomery.

On November 22nd, 2002, the band released Trapt, along with the single “Headstrong”. “Headstrong” became a fantastic hit, reaching #1 on alternative charts and #16 on pop. Follow-up singles “Still Frame” and “Echo” (with a video featuring Michelle Trachtenberg) did respectably, although they never reached the heights of “Headstrong”. “Headstrong” became the official theme song of WWE Bad Blood for June 2003. Trapt eventually hit platinum. After more than one year an EP followed on March 30th, 2004, that included a new song called “Promise” along with live versions of “Made Of Glass” and “Echo”.

On September 13th, 2005, the band released their sophomore album “Someone In Control” along with the single “Stand Up”. “Stand Up” failed to do as well as any of their previous singles, although it still made an excellent run on active rock stations.

Still trying to sit through a full play-through of Reborn. There's something about it that's just hard to swallow, I always find myself having to switch over. What a disappointment.

    я смотрю у группы привычка выпускать крутые альбомы через раз - 2002, 2008, 2013 ништяковые, а 1999, 2005 и 2010 неочень

A lot of the new album is tough to swallow. You'd think now that they are releasing their music independently that they would stray off and bring out something without fear of a record label demoting them... but most of the tracks sound like they are still trying to put out radio-friendly, generic rock songs. "Living in the Eye of the Storm" is probably the best track on the new album, just a great song that links back to the "Someone in Control" era with a bit of new touches. Miss that period of Trapt quite a bit.

Даже альбом 2010 года был лучше. Про более ранние вообще молчу.

Новый альбом к сожалению разочаровал. Можно отметить максимум пару песен. Да и то с натягом.

Saw these guys last night in Seattle.. Been a HUGE fan since 2002, pretty much an undying fan.. but gotta say I was dissappointed. Drove 350 kilometers to see this.. Chris, Pete and the new drummer did great, they had a solid performance, but WHO THE FUCK WAS THEIR NEW GUITAR PLAYER? Hands down the worst guitarist I've ever seen play live in my life. He had no clue what he was doing, its like they grabbed him off the street and forced him to learn the songs 10 mins before they got on stage. He screwed up all the solos and couldn't play the riffs or chord progressions worth shit..No confidnce. Straight up embarrassing. They had him turned down in the mix, too, so there was really no point of even having him there. Absolutely butchered the set list. They need Rob back. Badly. Like I said, the rest of the band was stellar, but this new amatuer on guitar was ridiculous. You could have taken a fan in the crowd and they would have played better guitar. Damn.
