The two brothers had played together previously in a similar folk-rock ensemble called The Original Brothers and Sisters of Love, releasing two well-received records for now-defunct Brooklyn indie The Telegraph Company (Stew, Kelley Stoltz, Jim Roll) before disbanding in 2003.
