Released in February, 1992, Stick Around For Joy is the third and final studio album by The Sugarcubes. The album issued four singles: 'Hit', which reached no.1 on the US Modern Rock charts and no.17 in the UK Singles Chart, 'Walkabout', 'Vitamin' and 'Leash Called Love' which went to No.1 on the US Dance Chart.
The album peaked at No.95 on the Billboard 200, and reached No.16 on the Official UK albums charts, marking the bands lowest charting positions on both charts.
Stick Around For Joy never quite had the same critical reception as 'Life's Too Good'. Reviewers praised Bjork's passionate and bizarre vocals, as well as the 'playful, lively dance pop'. The Spin Alternative Record Guide wrote that by releasing Stick Around For Joy, The Sugarcubes had 'already degenerated into mind-numbing mediocrity'.
After the release of this abum, in December 1992, The Sugarcubes broke up to pursue other interests. The members all manage the alternative record label 'Smekkleysa' (Bad Tate Ltd).
The lead singer, Bjork went on to release award winning albums such as: Debut (1993), Post (1995), and Homogenic (1997).
