I don't dislike it because it's mainstream, I dislike it because the lyrics are average and the melodies are boring and weak. "Big Exit", "Good Fortune", "A Place Called Home" are good, though. The only bad album Polly has written.

It's definitely not her best album, but a good album to start with. And it was my first album of hers, too.

This is a good album, so I don't know why people hate it just because it's "commercial". It was the first PJ album I heard.

Oh, and yeah, let's call this her most commercial album even though it has her fastest song (Kamikaze) and quite the bunch of hard rock tracks (Big Exit, This Is Love, etc.)

This album's flaw is that the drums sound even weaker than Dry and Rid of Me. Great otherwise.

it's also absolutely terrifying how the whole album is basically a prophecy of 9/11 released just months before it happened.

my least favorite peej album, but it still has some real gems. "big exit" and "horses in my dreams" are up there with her best work

@pedder, I totaly agree with you. And even though "Let England Shake" is incredible, sadly the beat makes a similar effect of"Stories" - so it passed the 00's album now, and it's the new top. Nowadays PJ is different, but in a better way. In "Stories" I feel she's kinda lost... Superficial. That's not her. It's a leftover...

This album is perfection. Nothing can beat Is This Desrire, but it's definitely my second favourite PJ album.
