There are multiple artists under the name of Shining:

1) A Swedish suicidal black metal band
2) A Norwegian experimental metal jazz group

1. A Swedish suicidal black metal band originally formed back in 1996 by Kvarforth. Their lyrical themes are based on depression , suicide and angst, and their live performances contain large amounts of self-mutilation that they invite the audience to take part in.

Current line-up is:
Kvarforth (Vocals), Fredric Gråby (Lead Guitars), Peter Huss (Rhythm Guitars), King (Bass), Richard Schill (Drums)

2. A Norwegian band. It started as an experimental jazz group in 1998, and has since evolved to include jazz/metal/progressive sounds. Winner of the Alarm Award in both 2006 (for “In The Kingdom Of Kitsch You Will Be A Monster”) and 2007 (for “Grindstone”).

Current members are:
* Jørgen Munkeby: sax, guitar, Akai EWI and vocals
* Torstein Lofthus: drums
* Andreas Ulvo: synths and keyboards
* Morten Strøm: bass
* Even Helte Hermansen: guitars

3. There was a British indie band who went by the same name formed by former members of the Verve minus Richard Ashcroft. This is noticeable in their music which sounds similar to early Verve. They released a couple of singles, most notable the song “Danger”, and an album, “True Skies” in 2002. Little more was heard from them since.

I mean honestly, VI is like... it's reused material basically, scrambled and horribly composed. Almost all the material on VI we've already heard on V, and most of the material on V was on IV, and so on. Kvarforth can't write new songs.

this album is quite different to the previous five ones (like every album of Shining is different to the others) - but it's absolutely great in it's own way..... and I'm really glad that Kvarforth is such an perfectionist when recording the songs. Every song feels so damn perfect.....
