There are two bands with the name Screaming Trees:

1. Screaming Trees were a band formed in Ellensburg, Washington in 1985. Their sound was a mix of 60’s and , and even though they were critically acclaimed by many, they never achieved the superstardom of their peers. Following the Dust tour, Screaming Trees took another hiatus. After a June 25th 2000 concert to celebrate the opening Seattle’s Experience Music Project, the group unsurprisingly announced their official breakup.

One of their earliest performances was in Ellensburg where they opened for future superstars Soundgarden and Faith No More. Ticket price for this show was $3.00.

The founding members were brothers Gary Lee Conner (guitars) and Van Conner (bass), vocalist Mark Lanegan, and drummer Mark Pickerel. They released several albums on the SST label, and then moved on to the Epic label later, after which Pickerel was replaced with Barrett Martin. After the band disbanded, most band members have moved on to other projects. Mark Lanegan did so most notably.

On August 2, 2011, Final Words: The Final Recordings was released digitally.

"Nirvana is very overrated, along with Pearl Jam." Agreed. Still, they're as good or better than Screaming Trees. However, people talking about Soundgarden below are clueless as fuck.

Nirvana is very overrated, along with Pearl Jam. Neither one should have made it as big as they did when bands like this were left behind in the dust. Also, Soundgarden is probably the greatest band to come out of Seattle. Anyone thinking they aren't essential to that scene need a fucking head check.

I don't know why everyone thinks that soundgarden should be switched with screaming trees in the big be honest I think pearl jam should be out if anything they arent that great and pretty soft (atleast what I heard from them) I think soundgarden is one of the greats of grunge along with screaming trees of course.

replaced Nirvana? they were the first or one of the first bands to be labeled grunge and Kurt being influenced by sludge and doom metal brings them the closest to that name making any sense.
