Money (6:42)

Money is a song from British progressive rock band Pink Floyd’s 1973 album, The Dark Side of the Moon. It is the only song on the album to hit the top 20 in the United States charts. On the original LP, it opened the second side of the album. It was written by Roger Waters. The guitar solo is ranked number 62 on Guitar World’s “100 Greatest Guitar Solos”.

“Money” is notable for its introductory passage of cash registers dinging and coins clinking, much like “Time”. However, unlike “Time”, the ‘money’ sounds were recorded specifically for the album, and are featured in a 7/4 beat rhythm.

“Money”, a riff-driven song, is notable for the unusual 7 beat time signature. The song is also notable for its dramatic change to 4/4 time for an extended guitar solo, after which the song returns to 7/8, then ends in 4/4. Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour suggested the change in time signature was likely introduced to make things a little easier for him.

This music changes my outlook on life, helping to find answers to various questions, opens up new opportunities for development and self-improvement, and, most importantly, it gives me a good mood and the ability to split it with other people.

It was thanks in large part to this top twenty single that The Dark Side of the Moon topped the Billboard Top LPs & Tapes chart in the early 1970s. Distinguishing itself with a jangly intro made up of the sounds of coins, cash registers and more, “Money” also featured Gilmour’s memorable guitar soloing and a bluesy sax section. The radio favorite helped its parent album become one of history’s highest-grossing records. -- watchmojo

Time seems to go fast whilst listening to this song. Just like in real life, our money wallets gets emptied so easily and swiftly. I cannot suggest and urge enough we abolish the system of money and capitalism . .. ... to come up with ''alternative new'' way from a system that has created more war, misery and $uffering than any other before ... .. . and after IT. http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com/
